Meet the visionary behind Odopa Cultural Group
Founder: Odopa Abena Agyeman
A distinguished chid protection officer, devoted lover of Afrikan culture and foodies, Odopa
embodies the spirit of cultural preservation and innovation.
With a profound understanding of both protecting of the vulnerable persons around the
world, arts and Culture, Odopa has dedicated her life to building bridges between young
people and adults within the communities.
Odopa's journey into showcasing Afrikan culture in the Northwest of England began with a
simple yet powerful realisation that the rich tapestry of Afrikan artistic traditions deserved a
more prominent platform within the British multicultural landscape.
As an Afrikan from with historical background from Tamale and the Asante Kingdom of
Ghana, she saw the immersed in the vibrant colours, rhythms, and stories of Afrikan
heritage, she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of cultural expression. Odopa
noticed a gap for authentic Afrikan arts and culture within the multicultural educational set up
in the UK when she settled in the UK.
Driven by passion of culture and arts, Odopa founded Odopa Cultural Group with a clear
mission- to celebrate, preserve, and elevate Afrikan artistic excellence while fostering
meaningful cross-cultural dialogue.
Established in 2004. The Odopa Cultural Group is an art and cultural for the people of
Greater Manchester and beyond. We showcase high quality arts in the form of Oware
games and cultural activity in schools and within the community.
The Odopa Cultural Group is a Community Interest Organisation and Odopa Cultural Group
aim is to develop and promote the unseen talents within the community, together with
cultural and artistic initiatives focusing on young people education, training, personal
development, health & wellbeing, and social mobility among the community.
We bring joy, confidence and pride by using Arts to tell stories of Afrikan Heritage. The
Afrikan stories have their own way of enlightening the listener. The stories educate and
empower the people.
This community interest organisation has been incorporated to honour our Black Afrikan
heroes and to support the legacy of all Black Afrikans in the UK and elsewhere.
